National MP for Taupo Louise Upston has welcomed the opening of nominations for the 27th annual Green Ribbon Awards.
“These prestigious awards recognise outstanding work to protect and enhance the environment by individuals, communities and organisations,” Ms Upston says.
“They are a great way to showcase an impressive array of initiatives making a difference to our natural assets and wildlife.
“The 10 categories include biodiversity, resilience to climate change, waste minimisation, caring for fresh water, coastal and ocean protection, leadership, philanthropy and partnerships, and the supreme winner category.
There will also be an additional award for outstanding contributions to the protection of our unique flora and fauna. The finalists will be invited to an awards banquet night at Parliament.
“This is a great chance to raise the profile of environmental initiatives and honour the environmental leaders in our communities,” Ms Upston says.
