Electorate news
Tuesday, April 12, 2016

I was privileged to attend the Investiture New Year Honours Ceremonies at Government House.

I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to three outstanding women whose contributions have been in the Taupo electorate.

  • Hilary Brown QSM of Taupo, for services to the community and public speaking;
  • Kathleen Guy MNZM of Taupo, for services to the tourism and hospitality industries; and
  • Kataraina Hodge QSM of Te Awamutu, for services to Māori.

These women have been honoured and recognised by their community and country for the outstanding work they do. They should all be very proud.

New Year Honours are a wonderful way to acknowledge women who have made a real difference. I would like to see many more women, and also men, in the Taupo electorate be recognised for their contributions.

The nominations process has begun for the 2017 New Year Honours. I encourage you all to get involved and nominate someone who you think deserves recognition for the time, work and effort they put into the community.

Information about New Year Honours and the application process can be found on the Department of Prime Minister in Cabinet (DPMC) website Or you can contact the Cabinet Office Honours Unit directly on (04) 817 9840.

Congratulations once again to all of the Honours recipients today. I wish you the very best for the future.
